Change a person’s life

Sponsorship Program for Disabled Adults and Children

Excluded, stigmatised and often forgotten, help a disabled person find hope for the future …

Disability is tough to live with anywhere in the world, however, having a disability in the developing world is much harder.   The struggles that these children face are so challenging … Therefore, TunisAid e.V. wishes to help them make their way in life, and with your support we can.

A number of children attached to our partner projects have disabilities which means that it is difficult for them to get to school, integrate at school, and even perform well in class.  This means that their needs have to be considered carefully and specifically to allow the child to make the most of their education. Therefore, TunisAid e.V. wishes to find sponsors who will persevere with adults and children who have disabilities so that they can eventually make their way in life, a life where they have been rejected by the society and where there are no formal support mechanisms provided for them.

For TunisAid e.V. , financial giving is vital for our continued success to improve the lives of adults and children with disabilities.

If you’re looking for a place where your money can make a tangible impact in the community, consider a sponsorship with TunisAid e.V. . Often when you sponsor a charity you don’t know where your money is going. At TunisAid e.V. , your contribution makes a difference in the quality of life for people with disabilities every day by providing medical equipment that gives them independence, mobility, and support.

What makes the Mentoring/Sponsor Program different from conventional donating?

The Sponsorship Program is a focused long-term donation program with transparent tracking and accurate feedback.

As it can be seen from the project title the target group of the program is Tunisians presenting disabilities. This includes all types of physical or mental handicap regardless of the degree of disability, age, sex, religion, social background and educational level of the participant.   Many Tunisians with disabilities lack educational and employment opportunities, have a lower probability of completing school and are at risk of living below the poverty under extreme hard social and economic conditions. Negative attitudes, lack of resources and supports, and inaccessible environments contribute to the difficulties that they daily face.

The TunisAid Project of Mentoring and Sponsorship for Tunisian with disabilities aims to create a human and emotional connection between the donator and the benefit recipient and engage continuously regular donation actions, which means long-term support for the patient. This support is fitted to his daily needs and future development goals. Through transparency and regular feedback, the donator can see the impact of his donation. This encourages him to be more involved in helping people in need. The donator can play a mentor role, share experiences while helping to support the disabled persons in fulfilling with dignity their daily basic needs or even in their academic, career, and psychosocial development.  All of this makes the patient feel less alone and provide him the courage to accept and face his disability in less severe conditions.

In which context is the project “TunisAid Mentoring and Sponsorship Program” emerged?

The Tunis Aid Project of Mentoring and Sponsorship for Tunisian with disabilities has arisen from the need to take social, emotional, and financial responsibility towards the inconvenience that encounters disabled people in a country with limited resources as Tunisia. It has been initiated by a group of Tunisian engineers living in Munich. The project is powered by BMW Group in the context of an initiative that encourages employees to engage more in social work on a worldwide scale.

How you can help

You Will Provide

  • A monthly or yearly financial aid that will help provide a special Education suitable for each person’s needs, special aids (such as wheelchairs, hearing aids and visual aids), tuition fees and healthcare.

You Will Receive

  • As a sponsor, you will receive information about the sponsored person such as their name, a picture of them, and some more detailed information about their life, their condition, and where they hope to be in the future.

How does it work?

The process involves the following 4 parts:

  • TunisAid members who are mainly based in Munich, the donator, the patient or person with disabilities, and TunisAid partners and volunteers who are based and acting in Tunisia.
  • The donator picks a profile of a patient presenting disabilities from the database of TunisAid website. The case is thoroughly described and documented, which offers the possibility for the sponsor to directly choose the scope of his action and who would he prefer to support.
  • The donator can fully or partly adopt a case and can also choose if he/she would like to be in direct contact with the patient.
  • Local TunisAid partners in Tunisia ensure the concrete implementation of sponsorship actions, document the progress, and deliver regular and direct feedback to the donator. It is here important to mention that the donation is fully dedicated to the patient (no deductions, no fees…).

We hope that you will be able to sponsor a child today to give them a better tomorrow.
